I create art to share my Inuit culture and spread awareness on the realities of issues in Inuit communities in the Canadian Arctic that were impacted by colonialism in history. Sharing messages through art gives me a chance to voice the issues concerning Canada’s relations with Inuit, from history to ongoing future.

I practice beading while using sealskin and explore different techniques as a self-taught artist and create unique art works. Through my beading, I spread a message for Inuit and Indigenous people: “Reclaim Your Culture” using my small business on Instagram, my consumers are either Indigenous people, some artists, or non-Indigenous supporters.

My purpose behind my work is that I want to inspire Inuit, as I am also inspired by Inuit artists to create arts related to our culture, as our way to decolonize and to collect our practices and traditions. Beading has helped me connect with Indigenous peoples, or non-Indigenous people across the country, and in the states. Beading, like any other art, as a cultural practice, is another way of decolonizing or to share our culture with the country.
